GO! organizes official education in the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium.
It is an autonomous body of the Flemish government that functions independently of the Flemish Minister of Education.
Its main mission is to guarantee the free choice of education in Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region.
The GO! Council makes the most important strategic choices for the future of GO!
It is supported by administrative and pedagogical services (including a continuing education service), based in Brussels. The organising power belongs to the 26 school groups.
Each school group manages all GO! educational institutions in a given region, consisting of a number of primary and secondary schools. The GO! schools are spread throughout Flanders and the Brussels Capital Region.
The GO! offers education from kindergarten through compulsory schooling up to adult education, including schools specializing in creative and performing arts and technical and professional education. The GO! provides policy guidance, curriculum development and training for its 700 schools/centers and for 35,500 staff members serving 220,000 students in compulsory education and 109,000 in adult education.
